Our Story
Kidney disease has long been a burden for many individuals that involve a stressful journey and ending with dialysis (and hopefully transplantation). These days things have changed completely and the world of kidney disease has experienced a breath of fresh air! Organizations like the American Society of Nephrology, National Kidney Foundation and the Renal Physician Association have worked hard to work with kidney disease patients and healthcare providers to optimize their health.
We now have amazing medications that have been proven to slow chronic kidney disease (CKD) progression over and over again. Furthermore, additional research in numerous categories have shown strong links to kidney disease progression, such as chronic inflammation and muscle wasting that can accelerate kidney disease progression.
We are here to put the information together so you don't have to spend hours searching for the answers about medications, food choices, supplements, and exercises to slow down CKD progression.
With that said, the biggest benefit that you will receive is if you start early on your journey of kidney health, and even those that already have advanced CKD, will find benefit here with numerous suggestions to still optimize their health, get in-depth information about why transplantation is the best choice anyone can make, and how to navigate dialysis, if that is where your path is headed. Remember, dialysis for many is only a stepping stone to transplantation and the goal is to get everyone transplanted as soon as possible.
These blogs will hopefully answer many questions and clear up some of the confusion surrounding CKD management and CKD progression. As these blogs are not meant to replace the personal relationship with your healthcare provider, we hope that it will keep you informed and supply you with questions and discussion points to ask at your next visit.
